"Winter Texan" is a name used to identify our annual visitors from northern climates. Winter Texans have discovered that to spend their winter season in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas is the next best thing to heaven.

With the mild winters of the Rio Grande Valley, Winter Texans spend October through April enjoying activities that are unavailable to their northern neighbors who still spend their winters with snow and arctic temperatures.

Winter Texans participate in a number of outdoor activities including walking, biking, camping, swimming, fishing, sailing, pool volleyball, hot tubbing, shuffleboard, tennis, golf, motorcycling, and many other activities. Billiards, table games, cards, bingo, ballroom dances, and other indoor activities are also high on the agenda for our Winter Texans. Western line dancing is a real favorite as well as enjoying a cool cocktail on a balmy evening. The Rio Grande Valley is blessed to be located on a major migratory bird flyway and is widely recognized as one of the finest observation areas for committed "Birders" in North America.

Most of our Winter Texan visitors are extremely active, however, should the need arise, the medical facilities of the Rio Grande Valley are certain to be a most pleasant surprise.

Come and join us and learn what it means to be a Winter Texan; you will be glad that you did.
